Offstage Theatre presents The Maids

This June, Offstage Theater presents a site-specific staging of Jean Genet's drama The Maids at the historic McShane House in Charlottesville, Virginia.

The Maids is a startling stage play based on a high-profile murder in Paris during the 1940s. It tells the story of two young sister-maids as they play-act revenge plots against their wealthy Madame, whose illicit lover has been mysteriously framed for crimes he did not commit. One part fever-dream, one part Downton Abbey, this sixty minute play is a fast-paced window into the confused and dangerous mindset of class-based murder.

The production is directed by Stephen Simalchik with set dressing by Megan Hillary and performances from Arrietta Van Der Voort, Emma Strock, and Megan Hillary.
